To spark the interest of science and medicine in the younger audience while educating them about scientific concepts, we created a series of comic book, written and illustrated by the CityU iGEM team member Ho-Jung Choe.

The first comic book “The adventures of Dr Secure and Gemma” follows the journey of two main characters as they explore the fascinating world of synthetic biology. Together, they introduce young readers to key scientific concepts such as PCR and CRISPR‑Cas9, showing how these tools can be used to design and create new biological components. Through their adventures, Dr. Secure and Gemma make complex topics accessible and fun, inspiring curiosity about the possibilities of genetic engineering and the future of biology.

The second comic book called “Guardians of the Animal City: The Fight Against Fake Medicine” follows the journey and challenges faced by our 4 main protagonists' characters, known as the 'Guardians of the Animal City' in combating a clandestine organization that produces and sells fake Bevacizumab to other animals. They successfully educate the city and destroy the organization while developing a test kit to prevent the usage of fake drugs by animals that genuinely need the actual drugs.
